MyResidency.in ("we", "our", or "us") is a residential society management platform that helps residents and administrators of housing societies, apartments, and gated communities stay connected and organised. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over your data.

By using the MyResidency app or visiting myresidency.in, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

  • Phone number — used to verify your identity via OTP and to link you to your society
  • Full name — displayed to your society admin and fellow residents
  • Residential details — unit number, floor, tower, and pocket
  • Profile photo — optionally uploaded; stored securely on our servers
  • Family member details — name and phone number of members you add
  • Vehicle details — registration numbers and descriptions
  • Lost & Found listings — title, description, contact phone, and photos
  • Posts and comments — content you publish to the community feed
  • Poll responses — your votes on society polls
  • Chat messages — messages you send within the in-app chat

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Push notification token — generated by your device to enable notifications
  • App usage data — screens visited and actions taken, used to improve the product
  • Device information — OS and app version, used for debugging and support

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to operate and improve the MyResidency platform:

4. Who Can See Your Data

Within your society

  • Society admins can see your name, phone number, and unit details
  • Fellow residents can see your name and unit in community features
  • Lost & Found listings you post are visible to all society members

Outside your society

  • No resident from a different society can access your information
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party for marketing

6. Data Security

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption)
  • Passwords are never stored in plain text — hashed using bcrypt
  • Sessions are managed using short-lived JWT tokens
  • Media files are stored in private AWS S3 buckets with pre-signed URL access
  • Access to servers and databases is restricted to authorised personnel only

7. Your Rights

  • Access — view your information via the Profile screen in the app
  • Correction — update your name, photo, and residential details from the Profile screen
  • Deletion — delete your account from Profile → Delete Account
  • Data export — request a copy by emailing connect@myresidency.in
  • Withdrawal of consent — uninstall the app to stop all data collection

8. Children's Privacy

MyResidency is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has registered without parental consent, contact us at connect@myresidency.in and we will delete the account promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you via the app if the changes are significant. Continued use of the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
